Our wedding, events and retreat venue, located in a small serene valley in Yellowpoint, British Columbia, is a unique destination for couples seeking an intimate and memorable wedding experience or for groups looking to decompress in nature. Our venue is designed to accommodate up to 100 guests and includes a private lake and a tiny home called, The Heron, that overlooks the valley and lake. Our venue is ideal for couples and groups seeking a natural and tranquil setting to celebrate their special day(s).

Details

Our 3 day, $3999 package, includes:

Day 1: Friday set up and rehearsal space, 1pm onwards

Day 2: Saturday, the main event

Day 3: Sunday take-down/clean up by 1pm.

· Outdoor ceremony space of choice

· Outdoor reception area of choice (including use of the Round pen and/or Riding Ring)

· Parking for guests in the large riding ring (on-site)

· Many stunning areas for photography sessions

· Exclusive rental of Tiny Home (many photos and reviews are available on our AirBnB site)

· Exclusive use of the venue property

· Events are 100 people maximum

· An Event License, Liquor License and Serve-it-Right bartenders are required for this venue

· Children MUST be supervised as there is a lake and wetlands on the property

· There are no kitchen facilities available, other than what is available in the Tiny Home

· We will be available to assist with set-up, including running power to your ceremony/reception area.

The Tiny Home features one Queen bed, two single beds and a fold out sofa that accommodates two.

The Main House features three bedrooms (two with Queen beds and one with a single bed).

There is an RV available with one queen bed and a sofa (single).

We celebrate love and welcome all genders and orientations,

within the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and beyond.

There is one outhouse on the property. Additional toilets and sinks will need to be rented.

This is an open air space, at this time. Large tents can be rented for the ceremony and/or reception areas.

There are three horses on the property. They will be contained in a separate paddock/field, away from the event.

The farm is located close to the Nanaimo Airport (10min drive) and Duke Ferry Terminal (15min drive).

The property is located in a private valley, on a nature sanctuary. There is a mature forest, healthy wetlands, a vibrant lake with many frogs, beavers and bird life. There are many trees providing privacy and shade.

Meet Marian & Darren

Marian van der Zon has been stewarding Of the Sun Sanctuary since 2018. Darren McKinnon joined her on the land in 2021 and they have been slowly growing the farm/sanctuary to share with others. An AirBnB Tiny Home was added in 2022 and has been increasingly successful, because people enjoy their time on this magical land so much! The land has been used for Private Ceremony on many occasions.

In 2024, we are offering Of the Sun Sanctuary as an outdoor Wedding and Event space. It is conveniently located on Central Vancouver Island and unparalleled in its privacy and yin nature energies. It is a quiet valley filled with frog and birdsong, ready for your vision and celebration!
